OCTOBER 2023 - Aerial filming on a action feature film in Aberdeen-shire

Of filming for Director Dave as he makes his new feature film. I previously worked on other features with him. Was great weather and a good day out with a few of the Action actors. Several shots of cars moving and establishing shots and films opening:)

Inspire 2 drone still working well on features

Day 1 of filming team:)

March 2023 - Aerial filming on Beluga Lagoon feature

Back with the Beluga Lagoon team to film on their feature for the last bit. Again another great week working with this team:)

February 2023 - Drone Operator on a feature film near Glasgow

So I headed to Glasgow to work with one of my favourite filmmakers Andrew O’Donnell and the great Beluga Lagoon team. Andrew has been working on the script for a feature film for the last few years and building a hut for one of the locations. Now starts the ambitious bit of filming it and bringing it together. Andrew is Directing and DOP on it with the lovable Mark being the main actor in the film. Blaine and Willy also have some roles.

So I headed there to do the aerial shots for the film for the week and also help with the sound and lighting when needed. I even dressed up as an owl a few times too lol.

I still don’t know exactly what the film is about as Andrew keeps it close to his chest. As always with andrew he has also produced an album (Beluga Lagoon music) first before starting the film which will be the sound track to the movie. A very talented man!

We had a great laugh filming this film and enjoyed every bit of it. Also got Andrew camera operating on the DJI Inspire 2 on occasion which he took to effortlessly:)

The toilet scene. Mark and Willy peeing with me on sound and Andrew filming:)

JUNE 2022 - Aerial Filming highlands on a short fictional film with an all female cast:)

A fun challenging day working on this short fictional film. A costume drama with lots of sword fights and a great all female cast. I was filming with the Inspire 2 and trying to get some stable running scenes in winds that slowly increased to about 35mph lol. We managed to get some good shots and everyone seemed happy. A great crew from all over UK here and a fun crew to work with.

JUNE 2021 - A bit of Mountain Safety on Starwars

A good mate Liam at www.mountainandwatersafetyspecialists.co.uk offered me 6 weeks on Starwars! But it would affect my filming work too much, so I declined. But then he offered 3 days and I was keen to be part of a Starwars set so off I went to join in for a few days:)

I’ve done a lot of work doing mountain and water safety on the large film sets over the years for Liam, on films such as Outlaw King, 37 Ronin, Mary Queen of Scots, Pokemon, King Arthur, James Bond, The Crown and more. All good fun working with lots of mates from the climbing world:)

I have a few images from the set but unfortunately I’m not allowed to show them until well after the Starwars show goes out. But I can share me going for my pre filming cover test in the Starwars Caravan park lol:)

West coast of Scotland, waiting for cover results before I can get on set the following day.

JANUARY 2020 - Thunderdragon kickstarter project hits goal

Gerry and Pia Moffat of the Thunderdragon fund who I worked for in Scotland, Nepal and Bhutan last year started a fundraiser for the 11th step film and it hit its target of $25000 plus a few extra thousand which is great. Now the project and hundreds of hours of footage from myself and a few other DOP’s (Ben Figueiredo and Tyler Allyn) will go into post production to produce a finished film for around easter time, where it has its opening night at a festival near New York.

To follow how the film is going goto: https://thunderdragonfund.org

Trailer for the upcoming film is below, with music from Beluga Lagoon:)

JUNE 2019 - Some of my Antarctic aerial filming in Godzilla:)

Some of my Antarctic aerial filming got into the newest Godzilla film. Brilliant to be a drone pilot for part of a big blockbuster with so much history. One of the clips shown below which appears in the film has a mountain ridge in the foreground which is aptly called Reptile ridge:)

MAY 2019: 24 Days as director of photography on a documentary

Had an amazing time travelling around Scotland for these 24 days days with Gerry Moffat making his new film, the second in a trilogy.

The film looks at coming home, connection to people, places, adventures and the wildernesses affect on people and several other themes. One theme is looking at the fact that many adventures are on your doorstep at home and Scotland shined for us with amazing weather during this month of May.

A common theme linking the film together was kayaking as Gerry is a well known kayaker so I took back to my boat to carry my camera kit into the wild for several parts of the film. We got a lot of fantastic footage and it was great to get too know Gerry better and he definitely influenced my outlook on life:)

A few pictures from the iPhone below. The film will be released next year after they have shot in America and the Kingdom of Bhutan. Fantastically I shall be travelling to Bhutan to be the DOP there too:) Can’t wait!

OCTOBER 2017: OUTLAW KING NETFLIX SAFETY

Here I joint the team run by Liam and Graeme who own www.mountainandwatersafety.co.uk to cover the safety mainly on the River Etive but also in other places.  There were a good bunch of us and it involved quite a lot of technical water scenarios with ever changing water levels.

Few pics below showing the changing river, no revealing pics of the actual film set until after the film comes out:)  The big crane in the water was when the river came up about 3-4 meters over night!  We got the crane out safely and we had attached it to the rock using climbing protection which held well:)
